Palm Acid Oil

Palm acid oil (PAO) is a byproduct of the palm oil refining process. It primarily consists of more than 50% free fatty acids (FFA) and neutral oils, with a water content of around 2–3%. This byproduct has significant potential for use in various industries, including as fuel, animal feed, a raw material for soap production, and for the manufacturing of distilled fatty acids.

Palm Acid Oil Specifications

  1. Free Fatty Acid (FFA) Content: 45%
  2. Water and Impurities Content: 2–3%
  3. Color: Dark yellow

Key Benefits of Palm Acid Oil:

  1. Biodiesel Raw Material: With its high free fatty acid (FFA) content, palm acid oil is suitable for biodiesel production through esterification or transesterification processes.
  2. Soap Industry: Palm acid oil is widely used in the production of soaps and detergents, as its fatty acids provide excellent cleaning and emulsifying properties.
  3. Animal Feed Industry: Due to its fat and fatty acid content, palm acid oil can serve as an additive in animal feed to enhance energy value.
  4. Energy: Palm oil liquid waste that produces PAO can be processed into biogas, which can be used as fuel for biogas power plants.
  5. Waste Reduction: Utilizing palm acid oil as a raw material or energy source helps reduce palm oil liquid waste, thereby minimizing environmental pollution.
